Michael Crichton -- whose books were made into films including "The Andromeda Strain," "Jurassic Park" and "Twister" -- died Tuesday. He was 66.
The author died "after a courageous and private battle against cancer," according to his Web site.
Despite his illness, a statement on MichaelCrichton.net said Crichton died "unexpectedly" in Los Angeles
This is a sad day. I loved his books.
I loved his books too. The movie adaptations weren't always very good but the books were solid.
Too bad. He was a good author.
Div, the movies are never as good as the books. The books work your imagination.
I think the Bourne movies were better than the books.
Crichton's last couple of books weren't that great, but I enjoyed most of his works.
That's sad. He was one of my favorite authors when I was a kid.
yeah. i did a few book reports on his books when i was in school.
What a loss. Some of his books were outstanding. Clipping to my column and CancerVine.
Envisioning a peaceful journey for you, Mr. Crichton. Rest in peace.
Geez. Just this week I found out my aunt has liver cancer and her mother, my nan, has brain cancer. I just found out my neighbor, Tim Roth, has cancer (now in remission) AND, my coworker's brother died of cancer. What is going on?
I'm so sorry for his family. I can certainly feel their pain.
RIP- was one of my favourite authors and still is. loved ER.
Sad day, indeed.
Jurassic Park was the first novel I ever read, at the age of 10 or so. His books taught me that movies based on books are never as good as the books, and started my reading obsession.
He will be missed, and I will give up my dream of another JP novel.
Damn, just damn. I hate reading news like this. I read a bunch of his novels in high school, so this news kind of sucks.
Cancer takes another one. Damn you.
RIP
I always looked forward to this next new book. Sometimes they didn't meet my expectations, but I never stopped looking for the next book.
Don't foget his contribution to the television show, ER. His are the type of books that will live on for a very long time.
An amazingly intelligent man, good man who will be missed esp. for his contributions.
